The project consists of the following: Construction of a waste disposal facility in terms of waste types, size of waste stream and the potential for leachate generation. Develop an operating plan for the landfill site that meets the disposal need and incorporates the necessary precautionary measures to mitigate environmental impacts. Install security fencing. Make recommendations for the closure and rehabilitation of the existing landfill site. Construct a waste sorting facility to recover recyclable waste and hence reduce the waste stream that will reach the landfill. This facility will assist in extending the lifespan of the landfill and will play an important role in job creation for the area. Upgrade the existing guard house. Installation of a weighbridge.
